Every once and a while I am asked which part of my job I enjoy the most. Usually I speak of the sermon process. The visioning, research, organization, writing and delivery of the sermon energizes me and fills me in a way that it hard to put into words. The closest I can come is to say that every time I preach I have a sense of assurance and serenity knowing that I am doing exactly what God has created me to do. When I am pressed to name another enjoyable facet of the job I always speak of facilitating the DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY. This is a high commitment study that meets weekly over a period of months, walking its participants from Genesis through the Revelation. Along the journey the class learns more about God, the Bible, themselves and each other than they ever thought possible. Is this a connection with God and a small group of fellow pilgrims that you are feeling called to?
