about bible study

"Do you understand what you are reading?" That was the question Philip the Apostle asked a man from Ethiopia who was riding in a chariot on the desert road leading from Jerusalem toward the Mediterranean Sea. The man was the finance minister of Ethiopia, but he had been in Jerusalem for Pentecost and somehow obtained a copy of Isaiah the Prophet. The man's answer? "How can I [understand it] unless someone explains it to me?" --Acts 8: 30-31

Monday Night Bible Study is for everyone, no matter your experience or level of understanding. Join us on Monday evenings at 6:45 for fun and interesting discussions about this most important book - the Bible! No need to sign up....simply join us in the sanctuary!

christianity and world religions

By Adam Hamilton

Mondays | 6:45 - 8:00 pm

During this 6-week study we will examine the world's major religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. As Christians, we will better understand the similarities and differences between Christianity and the faiths of some of our next door neighbors. We will seek to come away with a better understanding and appreciation of other faiths and be led to better fulfill Jesus' command to "love our neighbor as we love ourselves." Based on Adam Hamilton's book, "Christianity and World Religions."

This is a 6-week study:  September 9th - October 14th.

Monday Night Bible Study, "Called" beginning Oct. 21

For 6 weeks beginning Monday, October 21, at 6:45 p.m. we will study Biblical stories pointing us to how God interrupts the lives of ordinary people, calling and empowering us to bring hope and transformation to the world. We'll look at the stories of Abraham, Samuel, Esther, Jonah, Mary Magdalene, and the Beloved Disciple as we discern how to hear and respond to the unique call God is placing our our lives. Sign up on the Connection Card or in the lobby or on our church website. Based on the book "Called" by Susan Robb, pastor at Highland Park UMC in Dallas Texas.

Bible Study is for Everyone

The Bible is an incredible book of history and facts that proves that there is a God that created all things.  Most important of all, the Bible is the Word of God. But it can be hard to read and difficult to understand.  The Pastor's Bible Study helps us understand the people who wrote the scriptures and the societal influences during that time in history.  The discussion challenges our thinking and asks probing questions that transform us into "budding theologians" as we explore the scriptures more deeply.
