Sunday School/Tidepool
Children's Ministries Mission Statement
To supplement the family in reaching kids and helping them
become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Sunday School (aka Tidepool) is held during all Saturday and Sunday worship services September through May.
A large group experience is offered June - August.
Children should be taken back to Sunday School immediately upon arriving at church. The children will be brought into worship towards the end of the service for children’s time and then dismissed to their parents afterwards.
Tidepool is for children age 3 to 6th grade.
A Staffed Nursery is available for children age 3 and under on Saturday and Sunday.
We provide pagers so that our staff can contact the parents if needed.

Tidepool 2009-2010
The 2009-2010 year of Tidepool will begin on September 13. Tidepool will be offered on Sundays at both the 9:00 am and 10:30 am services, and on Saturdays at 5:00 pm beginning September 19. The 3 year olds - through 2nd Grade classes will be using Kid Mo! a new DVD-based curriculum. The 3rd & 4th Grade will be focusing on the New Testament. Our 5th and 6th Grade class will spend time learning what the Bible teaches about issues that are relevant to their age group. Thank you to Tidepool Coordinator, Leah Witte for all her hard work. A warm thank you to the 30 Still Waters members who will be teaching this year.
2009-2010 Tidepool Offering to go to Nothing But Nets
Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly challenged his readers to donate $10 for the purchase of an anti-malaria bed net, and thousands of people have joined the campaign. The people of The United Methodist Church, along with Sports Illustrated, NBA Cares, the United Nations Foundation and several other groups, are raising funds to purchase bed nets to end malaria. You can join the cause and contribute money for bed nets that will keep children and families safe.
2008-2009 Sunday School Highlights
Tidepool has been a true blessing for our Children and our Teachers. We are averaging 84 kids each weekend. This year has seen a revamping of our curriculum. The 3 year olds through 2nd Grade have focused each week on a different Bible story lesson. Our 3rd and 4th Grade are in the first year of a two year Bible-based curriculum. This year’s focus has been the Old Testament. In January, our 3rd and 4th Graders competed in an Old Testament “Are You Smarter Than Your 3rd or 4th Grader?” The Kids won by two points! Our 5th and 6th Grade class has been focusing on issues that are relevant to their age group, and learning what the Bible says about them. Thank you to Tidepool Coordinator Leah Witte, Jeci Schimmels, who filled in for Leah while she was away on maternity leave, and especially all of our dedicated teachers.
A Mom 2 Mom Sale was held at Still Waters on Saturday, March 7. A community wide event, our Mom 2 Mom sale brought 13 Sellers and over 120 shoppers to Still Waters. The event held as a fundraiser for the new curriculum we plan on purchasing for the 3 year old through 2nd grade classes raised $583.00. A second sale is tentatively scheduled for October.
